About Jordan Douglas Brown
Jordan Douglas Brown is an award-winning writer and director based out of Los Angeles.
After graduating with a double-honors in business and film-studies, Jordan attended the prestigious Vancouver Film School, where he specialized in both the writing and directing programs. His first short film, Temporality, was selected by the school administration to spearhead their global marketing campaign for both its extension into Shanghai, China in 2013.
Upon graduating the Vancouver Film School, Jordan wrote and directed his first feature film as a final project. Captive was the first feature shot by students in the school’s 30-year history. Jordan ran an online crowdfunding campaign to fund the film, and raised over $55,000 from hundreds of supporters across North America. After posting the film’s trailer online, international distributors approached Jordan in hopes of gaining rights to secure and sell his first film.
Captive, his first feature, premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival and won a Rising Star award at the Canada International Film Festival. Captive has since been distributed internationally through Blackrock Media and Phase4 Films.
Jordan’s second feature film, Gone Tomorrow, received an official selection at the Toronto Independent Film Festival and garnered more festival awards before being secured for international distribution by both IndustryWorks Pictures and Gravitas Ventures. Recently, Jordan has taken a deeper interest in screen-writing, and has been privileged to write several upcoming film and television series.
Storytelling has always been something that Jordan is passionate about, and filmmaking provides him with a direct extension for that passion. Alongside writing, Jordan also consults across a wide range of projects in both film and media. He sees this industry trending toward a focus on digital and internet media. Jordan also takes great pleasure working on adaptations and finding powerful stories to convert into television and anthology series.
Jordan Douglas Brown will use this site to share his thoughts and journey on the inside workings of the film industry. From the creation of a story, through its writing and off into sharing with the audience. This will be a raw and candid look and the life one experiences as… a filmmaker.
